Materials and Supplies
* Brother Sewing Machine
* Brother 7 hole cording foot SA158
* Brother embroidery thread that will blend with your color choice
* Different colors of decorative heavy threads 2 yards each
* Several large beads
* 1 piece of wash away stabilizer 6" X 14"
* 1 dental floss threader
Step 1 Thread a different color thread through each hole on the 7 hole cording foot from the front to the back. Use the dental floss threader to thread the foot. Pull the thread to the back of the foot, leaving about 6 inches for the knot, bead and fringe.
Step 2 Place the 7 hole cording foot on the machine. Place the wash away stabilizer under the foot. Make sure the first 6 inches of cords are behind the foot.
Step 3 Select the triple zigzag stitch on the machine (stitch #1-15 on the Innovis 4500D) set the width to 7.0mm. Stitch this stitch about 8 inches, using a thread that will blend with the cording that was selected.
Step 4 Lift the presser foot and pull back 6 inches. Hold the thread at this point or pin in place. Turn the project around and pull more thread to the back.
Step 5 Line up the presser foot so that the edge of the stitching is under the presser foot and will be caught in the stitches as you continue to sew the additional rows.
Step 6 Stitch the length of the bookmark. Raise the presser foot and pull enough threads to the back to match up with the length.
Step 7 Cut the connected threads. Thread a bead at each end and tie a knot close to the bead.
Step 8 Trim away excess wash away stabilizer. Rinse the book mark to remove the rest of the stabilizer. Lay flat to dry.
