INSTRUCTIONS
CREATING......
Step 1 Make a pattern by cutting a 15 ½" square out of freezer paper.
Step 2 Cut 5" squares from each corner of square.
Step 3 Layer fabrics for tissue cover with batting on the bottom and cover fabrics on top. Iron freezer paper to the top fabric.
NOTE: Freezer paper should be ironed with shiny side down. Ironing fabrics together will help fabrics stick together for easier cutting.
Step 4 Use a rotary cutter and cut all fabrics at one time.
APPLIQUE
Step 5 Cut four 5" squares of Aqua Melt.
Step 6 Create appliqués by drawing a heart shape on each Aqua Melt square.
Step 7 Place square on right side of appliqué fabric and stitch on drawn line around heart shape.
Step 8 Cut out heart appliqué leaving a 1/8" seam.
Step 9 Cut a slit in aqua melt and turn, making a finished heart shape.
Step 10 Use SA134 blind hem foot to invisibly appliqué hearts to sides of tissue cover as follows:
1. Turn screw on right side of foot until it touches the outside of appliqué shape. You will follow this edge as you sew around shape.
2. Insert size 70 Microtex needle and thread machine with monofilament thread. Choose zig zag stitch – stitch length 2.0, stitch width 1.0. The "zig" should take a small bite into the appliqué shape and the "zag" should enter the background fabric just next to the appliqué.
